Lyons O’Neill recently facilitated a site visit to Sutton Secondary School: the UK’s largest school constructed from Cross Laminated Timber and to Passivhaus standard, the international standard for low energy design. The live site visit took place yesterday and was organised by Croydon Constructing Excellence Club in conjunction with KLH UK.

The additional 4 storeys on top of the Derry’s department store in Plymouth are well underway with the new courtyards and infill areas also taking shape.  Lyons O’Neill worked hard to prove that the existing foundations were adequate to accept this new load, eliminating the need for additional expensive foundations. Darling House has been shortlisted as a finalist in the prestigious SBID International Design Awards 2018 – Residential House Under £1M. An old double garage plot of land, converted to this 3 storey, 3-bedroom family home which exceeded the client’s brief.  The building fills the footprint of the compact site and is a realisation of a complex design process to create flexible and beautiful living spaces within the constraints.  Read more here

Delighted to see this SEN school start on site this week. This project involves the construction of a new 4FE special education needs school building on the site of the current school. The existing school needs to remain operational throughout the construction sequence. Lyons O’Neill have designed the below ground drainage infiltration system to discharge the surface water from the site to the water table. Read more here

Heathfield Academy, Croydon, wins Building Project of the Year <£10m at the Constructing Excellence Awards 2018.  The whole team worked together to find new products and efficiencies to conserve funds and make programme gains.  The team also overcame many technical challenges, made quicker decisions and achieved high quality throughout the build.  See more about the project here: https://www.lyonsoneill.co.uk/portfolio/heathfield-primary-school/  

Lyons O’Neill are delighted to be part of the Willmott Dixon Design Consortium and winning the “Integration & Collaborative Working Award” at Constructing Excellence Awards 2018.  The judges said “This submission was an outstanding example of true collaboration. The partnership is based on development of trust, shared outcomes and a commitment to act on lessons learned.

Lyons O’Neill are delighted to report that THFC new accommodation ‘The Lodge’ is now complete.  The Brazilian national team were The Lodge’s first guests, basing themselves at the brand new facility last week, before departing for the World Cup in Russia.  See more about the project here: https://goo.gl/LQC3e3
