Lyons O'Neill

Baylis Old School

This £25m housing development in the heart of Lambeth has an interesting mix of refurbishment and new build. The main part of the redevelopment was the refurbishment of the 1970’s school building which forms the majority of the site. Research into the structure revealed the structure to potentially have High Alumina Cement construction which meant we had to devise a rigorous series of load testing and sampling to justify the structure for its new use.

The new structures were constructed using light gauge steel frames prefabricated in panels and brought to site for erection. Lyons O’Neill also provided all the Civils input on the project and a one stop shop for the Client.
